Civil War Union Pvt., Co. I, 21st Iowa Infantry Regiment Enlisted as a Private on August 10, 1862 at the age of 36. Joined Co. I, 21st Iowa Infantry Regiment on August 23, 1862. He fought at the battles of: Hartville, Port Gibson, Champion's Hill, Black River Bridge, and the Siege of Vicksburg.
He died of sunstroke on June 4, 1863 at Vicksburg, MS Division Hospital. Died in the Vicksburg Siege Campaign[1]
