I was born in Bakersfield, CA, to Veronica Jean Parks and Donald Guy Golden. My Golden line is descended from John Golden of Culpeper, VA (1750-1816), through his son Willis. My paternal haplogroup is M253. I am looking for information extending back from John Golden to his parents or any of his siblings. That's where our wall is.
I am currently trying to track down "adjacent" families to the Goldens, especially in Culpeper, Virginia, and Harrison County, West Virginia. These families include: the Carders, the Lindsays, the Pratts, the Shingeltons, the Silmans, and the Rileys. The Carders and the Goldens especially seemed to have a strong connection, even through their group migration to Harrison County at the end of the 18th century/beginning of the 19th.

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations. Citations & links for sources enable verification of data. From wiki ID go to Research to find sources
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.
Add the project tag to your Following list to keep up to date on any activity
Any questions let me know

I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can answer?
We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
You have been a member about a week. How is it going so far. Was the first page of the How-Tos helpful or did it leave you with questions?
When you click the green tags on your profile page, you can see if others follow that tag. Add locations, Country, County or town the more tags you add the more links to community & research options. You can find more information here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags.
If links do not work in email, they will work in the public comment on your profile
Any questions please ask in the comment of my page or send a private message.

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.
Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.
Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.
Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.
Ludwig :)

Thank you, David ~ WikiTree Greeter
P.S. If you ever get a "Page Not Found" error when you click a link in a WikiTree email, you can usually find a functioning link in the public comments section of your profile page.
