Five years later the census records show them living in Iowa.

Lewis left there for Smith County, Missouri, according to a family history written by Norman Haskell Goings in 1939. He wrote, "Lewis Goings landed there early in the 'grasshopper' year, and all his crops were consumed by the insects. He had four sons and two daughters who settled near him. He was a very large man, weighing 325 pounds. He next removed to Smith County, Kansas. He came back to Indiana on a visit in 1890, but he was there only a few days when his asthma became so bad he had to leave. He died August 18, 1890, shortly after returning to Kansas".
Elizabeth, Lewis Going's first wife, died in 1881 in April and Lewis married his wife's sister Rebecca Ketterman Kesling on Sept 20th, 1881 in Bloomington, Nebraska at the age of 58. Rebecca Ketterman was previously married to Andrew Kesling.
