ALBANY--Ethel Simmons, 91, a former resident of West Second Street, died Wednesday in Albany Nursing Home. Mrs. Simmons had been a lifelong resident of Albany. In 1924, she and her husband, Ralph, opened the Ralph Simmons Hardware Store in Albany. She continued running the business after his death in 1962 and was active in it until about five years ago. She was a member of Albany United Methodist Church, Reticule Circle, and Polyanna Club. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jean (Mrs. John) Simon, Albany; a son, Robert, Valparaiso; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Parson-Rust Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Fritz officiating.
