Born Oct. 27, 1922, in Salisbury, he was the seventh of eight children born to Charles Cuthrell Glover and Madie Mae Bruce Glover.
Mr. Glover retired in 1982 after 36 years with Southern Railway. He married Mary Frances Evans Zimmerman Glover on Aug. 17, 1974. He was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he shared his musical talents both in the choir and by playing the piano.

He was awarded the Eamet Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. In addition to his duties as clerk, he was also the assistant to the chaplain in organizing services and playing the piano.
His musical skills were also well known by the staff and residents of the NCSVH, where he played for various services, as well as just for the joy of having a crowd gather at the piano and sing.
He was known for his massive gardens and his generosity to members of his church family, Lutheran Home residents and the community as he shared abundant supplies of tomatoes, corn, cucumbers and watermelons each summer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Glover, on March 21, 2002; two stepsons, Jerry H. Zimmerman and Joe F. Zimmerman; three brothers, Robert L. Glover, Charles H. Glover and Francis C. Glover; and three sisters, Cleo "Sue" G. Browning, Catherine G. Miller and Sadie G. Peeler.
