Biography

Sarah's parents are not known with certainty. Edward Reavis hails from Henrico County and Sarah may be related to the Henrico County Gilliams, but most of her connections seeem to be with the Gilliams of Surry County, VA and Albemarle Parish.

Sarah named a son Jesse. She may be a sister or near relation to Jesse Gilliam who appears in the Surry County, VA records. It appears he is the same Jesse that assumes possession of the land John Gilliam Sr left to his son John Gilliam, Jr. per the Will of Joseph Grainger.

Edward Reavis' first wife was Hannah Alley. Edward's son James Reavis "of Northampton County" , on April 24 1772 sold to Charles Seath "of Brunswick County, VA" 260 acres in Northampton Co, NC. on Peahill Creek. This deed was witnessed by Thomas Owen and Miles Alley. (Miles Alley married Rebecca Gilliam, the daughter of Burrell Gilliam.")

Edward left a Will dated 21 Feb 1750 in Northampton County, NC. His Will was witnessed by Arthur Harris, John Gilliam and Arthur Jordan.

In 1752, Sarah was Widow Heir in her husband's will.[1] [2]

On 24 May 1756, "Sarah Revis, widow, gave to her son Jesse Revis, 163 acres joining Lashley’s Run and a small branch formerly called John Gillham’s Spring Branch and Walter Lashley (on 24 May) Wit: William Reavis, Thomas Reavis, Sarah Reavis. [3]
