Biography

Bardrick was born in 1908 to Milo Daughters and Alice Gillham.

Bard earned degrees at the University of Cincinnati and Northern Illinois College of Optometry.

In 1932, Bard opened an optometrist shop in Salinas, California.

In 1936, Bard married Ruth Frandson in Orange County. They had one child.

In 1970, Bard retired and they moved to Boulder Creek.

He passed away in 1972 in Boulder Creek.

New Optometrist Comes to City

Dr. Bard R. Daughters, optometrist, has opened offices in the Salinas National Bank building. He will specialize in eye examination, fitting glasses and giving ocular exercises.

Dr. Daughters received his education at the University of Cincinnati and Northern Illinois College of Optometry. After graduation, he had two years of clinical work in Chicago, where he became experienced with every type of refractive eye trouble.

The offices are completely equipped with modern optical instruments for scientific eye examinations. Dr. Daughters comes to Salinas from Oakland, where his parents live.

Dr. Bardrick R. Daughters Dies

Dr. Bardrick (Bard) R. Daughters of Boulder Creek died Sunday in a local hospital of a sudden illness. He was 63.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in White's Chapel, 138 Walnut Ave., with the Rev. Don W. Monroe Jr. of the Felton Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Born in Lincoln, Neb., Dr. Daughters came to California in 1933 and settled in Salinas where he practiced optometry for 40 years until his retirement two years ago. He moved to Boulder Creek at that time.

He was a member of Salinas Lodge 204, F&AM; the Scottish Rite Bodies of San Jose and the Islam Temple AAONMS of San Francisco. He also was a past president of the Salinas Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice F. Daughters of Boulder Creek; two sons, James Daughters of Danville and Kenneth Daughters of Salinas; his mother, Mr. Alice G. Daughters of Salinas, and five grandchildren.
