Biography
John Pretious Gillam was born in Albany, Western Australia in 1860.[1] He was the son of Thomas Meadows Gillam and Elizabeth Selina Jenkins.
In 1885 he married Florence Toovey.[2] They had fourteen children.
He was the licensee of "Travellers Rest Inn", Tenterden which had been established by his father-in-law as a staging post for the Albany-Perth mail run. In 1907 he moved to Cranbrook. He also worked as a fencing and clearing contractor.[3]
John died in Mount Barker, Western Australia in 1946.[4]
He is buried in Tenterden Cemetery.
