George was born in 1880 and passed away in 1920. Buried in the Elmwood Saint Joseph Cemetery in Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.

 !Hugh Swofford, on visit to Gilby, ND 7/94 writes "George W. Gile's wedding picture has survived. & it is most unusual as it is finished in IOWA. At Delwein, Iowa. All 4 people are on it, the bride and groom and who stood up.They could have been married in Mason City, as its number seems like Winona. They may have moved to Winona after, as the photo they have of him as a babywas taken in Winona."
 !Hugh Swofford (New York) has copy of obituary. Buried near his brother Jim in St. Joseph Cem. Mason City, IA. Says "George W. Gile died Sunday Mar. 7,1920 at 2 o'clock AM. One son Charles Gile age 13, leaves no wife. Funeral Wed. Holy Family Church, burial in Catholic Cem. Mason City. Born at Wilson,Winona Co. MN July 10, 1882 Leaves no wife." (other sources say b.1880 and1881) Hugh says Charles was an alcoholic.
 !+Obit Mason City, IA paper - Mar. 10, 1920. "George W. Gile passed away Sunday morning at 2 o'clock at Mitchell, S.D.,after a two weeks' illness with Bright's disease. Mr. Gile left Mason City two years ago for Mitchell, where he has been employed as a train baggageman for the Milwaukee Railway company. Prior to that time he was engaged in a similar capacity with the same company here for a period of five years. His brother, James B. Gile of Mason City was with him during his recent illness and death.Mr. Gile was born at Wilson, Winona county, Minn. July 10, 1882. He leaves to mourn his loss his son, Charles Gile, age 12 years; his mother, Mrs. J. R. Gile at Gilbey, N.D.; four brothers, Andrew Gile and John Gile, both of Brainerd,Minn., and Joseph Gile of Winona and James D. Gile and one sister, Mrs. Thomas G. Smith of Gilbey, S.D. residing here. The remains were brought to the city this morning and are at the Cobb Undertaking parlors. The funeral services will take place Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the Holy Family church,Rev. Father Murphy officiating. Interment will be at the Catholic cemetery."
