Hi Heather! Thanks for your interest in joining the One Name Studies Project! I've awarded you the badge. There are step by step instructions for how to set up your study with some suggestions for ways to get started on the One Name Studies homepage. Let me or Doug know if you have any questions. ;-)

I see that you are interested in DNA study and haven taken a test. Would you be interested in starting a One Name Study for your surname? The purpose of the One Name Study is to coordinate any WikiTreers who are researching one particular surname and to provide a resource for collaboration

For instructions on how to get started and suggestions for getting the most out of your study, see: One Name Study

For more information, contact Doug or Alison with any questions.

Welcome to the DNA Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:DNA

Please make sure each bit of DNA test information is added to the actual test participant's profile, not someone else's like your own. To make cousin connections, WikiTree needs to see the FamilyTree tab. Check that your Privacy on your profile is set to "Private with Public Family Tree" as a minimum. (Living minors should have an Unlisted privacy level.)

Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include DNA and other terms on the (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

As you add your family lines and connect to the big WikiTree, you may find new cousins. Use the Relationship calculator to see if you are related to me, Cooper-1 with http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Relationship

Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Excellent thank you Heather,

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree. If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created. Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any. Welcome! Gilly

I'm relatively new to all of this, but I have an heirloom family tree on my mother's side (the Linder family of Basel, Switzerland) that dates back to 1526 (and I have traced that family back further to 1444). My father's side is a bit spottier, but I have traced his ancestry to Scotland and Ireland in the 1700s. I've had both parents' and my own DNA tested through 23 and Me and I am excited to dig in more. I'm happy to volunteer anything I can, and even more eager to share and to learn!

Hi! I see you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'. - Gilly
