Biography

Lawrence William Gilbert was the second of two sons of Rosalie (Norden) and Abraham Edward Gilbert, both native Louisianans. He was a house painter, and the couple made their home in the Irish Channel section of New Orleans near Athletic Park. : Abraham’s parents were born in Germany.
