Biography

Arrived from Switzerland in Baltimore, MD on 17 Aug 1804 with parents and brothers.

The Genealogy of the Gysie Giesy Family ..."On the 17th of August in the year of 1804, he [Jacob Gysie], his two brothers, and his parents, as was recorded in its family register, for the first time set foot on the American soil."

...His brother Henry was permitted to see, but not to possess the good land. He [Henry] died three weeks after their landing in Baltimore, Maryland. He was buried there. Immediately they left that place, for Ohio. For a short time Jacob lived with his parents, who settled in the northern part of Fairfield County. The whole family consisted of four persons."
