Biography

Elizabeth, daughter of Earl Gibson and Edith Cadwallader, was born on July 7, 1921, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She had three siblings, a sister and two brothers.^[1] The family lived in Cincinnati until the late 1930s when they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.^[2]

In 1940, Elizabeth married Joseph Petteway Morris in Charlotte, North Carolina. They had two children during their marriage, one daughter and one son. The marriage was sometimes troubled. In the 1950 census, Elizabeth and her children were living with her parents and it was reported that she and Joseph had separated.^[3] However, later in the 1950s Elizabeth and Joseph once again shared an address and were not divorced.

Sadly, Elizabeth died young, at the age of 36. On her death certificate, it lists she had congestive heart failure. Her death was on November 4, 1957, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and she was buried there in Evergreen Cemetery.^[4][5][6]
