Biography

George Washington Gibbs, born in 1811 in Knox, Tennessee, was a son of Daniel Gibbs (1786–1852) and Sarah Sallie Sharp (1790–1881).[1] His Gibbs ancestors had settled in Orange North Carolina in the mid 1700s prior to establishing their home in Tennessee.

George, at age 19 married Elizabeth Betsey Bayless (17) (born about 1813 in Tennessee; daughter of John Bayless and Elizabeth (Jones) Bayless) on 5 October 1831 in Knox County, Tennessee.[2]

In 1880, George W (68) Gibbs was living in Warm Springs, Randolph, Arkansas, [3] where he died in 1880 at age 68.
