George Washington Gibbs, born in 1811 in Knox, Tennessee, was a son of Daniel Gibbs (1786–1852) and Sarah Sallie Sharp (1790–1881).[1] His Gibbs ancestors had settled in Orange North Carolina in the mid 1700s prior to establishing their home in Tennessee.
