Biography

Joseph Gibbs is a part of US Black heritage.

Joseph Gibbs was born in 1859. He was the son of William Gibbs and Lydia Profitt.

His first wife was Sarah (Lippett) Gibbs aka Williams and they had at least 7 children:

Amanda Josephine, b. 1 January 1880, Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island

William Augustus, b. 20 August 1884, Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island

Melvina May. b. 10 September 1888, Warwick,, Kent, Rhode Island

Theodore Fremont, b., 28 January 1890, Coventry, Kent, Rhode Island

Arthur Conrad Gibbs, b., 10 February 1892, Coventry, Kent, Rhode Island

Eva Violla Gibbs, b., 2 June 1895, Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island

Henry C. Gibbs, b. ca. February 1899, Rhode Island

Joseph's second wife was Susan Emily Turner Gibbs. There is no indication that they had any children. He passed away in 1909. Joseph is supposed to be buried in Brayton Cemetery, Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island, but there is no visible grave marker at the site.
