Southern Cross of Honor Samuel Jameson Gholson was a United States Representative from Mississippi, a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and a Brigadier General in the Confederate States Army.[1]

Husband of Margaret Ann Ragsdale. Samuel passed away in 1883. Final resting place in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery, Aberdeen, Mississippi.[2]
