I am a 1st cousin 5 times removed of Thomas Coomes. I have his middle name as Alexander. I have a marriage date of Apr. 25th, 1805. This information is from old notes I took in 1980 and was not smart enough back then to write down the source.

Thanks so much for your note. It was very comforting. He did live to he 84 and had a wonderful life. I appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks for the note about the Dudleys & Sewells. I think I've gotten most of the main players set up now, with two Henrys & two Marys (Maryland set Catholic & Virginia set Protestant). Now all they need is good sources :D

Seriously, I think this will be a good start to merging duplicates so that we have _only_ two sets to work on.

I'm still a bit confused about who the Richard Dudley is who Maryland Henry names cousin in his will & who Catholic Mary married. You mentioned you're related to the husband of the Maryland Mary... Is her husband's name also Richard Dudley & a different Richard Dudley than the one who is second son of Edward Dudley named in Thomas Saxe's will?

Thanks!!

since your william whitton was very early, i looked for the earliest i could find. in "tennessee cousins", i find that william yearwood and francis whitten (from the early land records of va, patented land in the colony as early as july 29, 1650 on tne north side of the rappahannock river in what is now either northumberland or lancaster county. 660 acres in the tract. later capt john weir obtained these lands by transfer by the original patentees, who doubtless located nearby or in some other section of va. page 369 of above book by worth s. ray. this confirms the presence of whittens as early as your william. susan
hi virginia. did you receive the private message i sent last night? i am afraid it went to the wrong place. i will wait to hear before i send the next one about littleton. susan
hi virginia. i see that you added my husband's line of whittens. i have the whitten book vol 2, if i can look anything up for you. i also have "the two sons of charles whitten" and "letters to rebecca". susan whitten
