Biography

There is currently insufficient information to positively identify records of Hendrik Gerritsz's birth. Of the six Hendriks baptized at Oldebroek between 1740 and 1765 ^[1], the one most strongly associated with this profile gives a baptism of 26 August 1759, and parents named Gerrit Stevenzen and Jannetjen Reijersz.^[2]

Hendrik was married At Oldebroek in 1785 to Aardje Gerritsz (later records use the family name Sneller).^[3]

A number of online family trees give Hendrik's death as 1844, apparently conflating Hendrik with his daughter Hendrikje. Hendrik was certainly living sometime in 1801 given the birth of his last known child. His wife Aardje is listed as a widow on her death record, suggesting a death before December 1816. There are two death records that fit these details: One in 1802 ^[4] , and the other in 1808 ^[5]. The latter record gives an age of 48 that also fits with the assumed birth year.
