Biography

William, son of Roger Gerrish and Grace Gerrish, was baptised on 25 March 1754 in Atworth, Wiltshire, England.^[1]

Research Notes

Re Note below, Grace Pool married Roger Gerrish, so am assuming the name Richard was just a mistake. However I think the William that died at Westbury may be a different one. Possibly conflated with the William in the settlement exam below, whose father Richard married Ann Snell. Whitehouse-2064 10:47, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Note for future research. William was in a record on 9 February 1779 in Melksham, Wiltshire, England. Richard GERRISH weaver in Bradford, age 42, born Marston Potterne, son of William who had farm in Melksham. Married Ann SNELL (now dec'd), child: Mary 14. Married Ann MOODY, child William 5.^[2] Whitehouse-2064 10:56, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Have not found any sources showing William's father as Richard. All point to Roger Gerrish as father.
