Giuseppe Gennusa, son of Domenico Gennusa and an unknown mother, marries Vincenza Paternostro, daughter of Giuseppe Paternostro and Arcangela di Leo, on 8 February 1863 in Corleone.[1]
Vincenza and Giuseppe have at least seven children: two sons named Domenico (1864 and 1865), Maria Santa (1871), Arcangela (c. 1872), Francesco (c. 1877), Giovanni (c. 1882), and Leoluca (c. 1884).
The first son named Domenico is born and baptized on 11 January 1864 in Corleone. His godparents are Gaetano di Puma and Liboria Tinnirello, a married couple.[2]
The first son named Domenico is presumed to have died before the second is born.
The second son named Domenico is born 14 October 1865 in Corleone and baptized the next day. His godparents are Simone Provenzano and Vincenza, his sister, both unmarried.[3]
Maria Santa is born 15 October 1871 in Corleone and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Giuseppe Giuffrida and Santa lo Bello, a married couple.[4]
Francesco's birth year is based on his given age in the 1910 United States census of New Orleans, Louisiana.[5]
The second Domenico also emigrates to New Orleans, in 1886.[6]
Vincenza and four of the children---Maria Santa, Arcangela, Giovanni, and Leoluca---emigrate on the Olympia, sailing from Palermo to New Orleans in 1891.
Francesco marries twice, first to Rosalia Bruno on 15 July 1902 in New Orleans.[7]
In the 1910 census, Frank is a widow with an infant son. Living with him is his sister, Mary (Maria Santa) di Carlo, who is also a widow, and her children.
Francesco remarries to Maria Silvestro on 24 March 1915.[8]
Mary dies 16 December 1925. She is interred in Saint Roch Cemetery #1, in the same vault with Domenico di Carlo, who is possibly her brother-in-law, and his wife, Lucia.[9]
