Biography

Adolph was born in 1867, a son of George Gelbman and Eva Schwartz Gelbman. He was in real estate and then worked for the parks department in Yonkers. He organized the Independent Brotherhood Lodge in Yonkers in 1888, and was active in the Westchester Lodge, Independent Order of Brith Abraham, Tilden Democratic Club, and more. Adolph was married for 51 years to Lena Rosenthal, who survived him when he passed away in 1940. Also surviving were their 6 sons, 2 daughters, 22 grandchildren, and a brother.
