Biography
Eunice Gates was born 23 Apr 1827, the fourth child of Mercy Denison, the second wife of Zebediah Gates. Whereas the 1860 and subsequent census records [1] show her birth location as Stonington, more likely she was born at Groton, Connecticut, where her birth family resided.
She married 24 Sep 1851 Amos Chesebrough. They had at least 4 children:
- Amos Gates Chesebro (1855-1946); married 4 Sep 1878 Ellen Bartlett of Simsbury
- Samuel Zebediah Chesebro (1858-); married 1) 17 May 1883 Mary J. Bartlett; 2) Lucy Haley
- Mercy Annette Chesebro, b. 1 Apr 1861; married 2 Sep 1886 Austin Everette Potter of Groton
- Edmund Denison Chesebro, b. 26 Mar 1863; married 26 Nov 1890 Grace Laura Mansfield

Eunice (Gates) Chesebrough died in 1907, and is interred in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. Her grave marker is inscribed "Mother".
