Biography

Paul was born the 5th of six children born to Ernest and Leone Garwood. He joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and served 22 years before retiring in 1977 as a Chief Petty Officer.

During his Navy career, Paul briefly served on the USS Orleans Parish and the USS Fidelity. He then served aboard the USS Leary, USS Bushnell (Key West, FL) and the USS Harry E. Yarnell (Newport, RI). He went on to teach at the IC School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL.

After leaving the Navy, he purchased a home and moved his family to Hartsville, Indiana. Paul studied at IV Tech, Columbus, Indiana and obtained his Bachelors degree in Electronics. He worked for Cummins Diesel (Columbus, IN) for several years. He then went to work at RCA in Bloomington, Indiana, where he worked for 18 years before his retirement.
