Biography

I am a professional technical writer, researcher, and software engineer working in academia with a love of research "for the sake of research." I enjoy the mixture of the unblinking search for the facts (as much as possible) with the more human side of narrative and legend. I love exploring family legend histories and backing them up with more "popularly reliable sources", including the modern tools made available through advances in DNA, database technology, OCR, and artificial intelligence. I think genealogy is a good field for introducing many complex topics in technology, the humanities, and ethics on an interpersonal meaningful level.

Hi -- happy to see further development of their line (Galvin) but I'm not connected to this particular Galvin line -- I was just in exploratory mode for possible Galvin Name Study -- as there is a category for that already set up. Thank you!

Hi Jeanette!

My name is Dodie and I am the coordinator of the Bartlett Name Study. I see that you have Bartletts in your tree and would like to invite you to check out the study @ http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Bartlett_Name_Study

We have some good information going for research links, tons of Bartletts already included (plus some of the variations in spellings), and other genealogists like yourself that is looking to find a more richer experience in finding their ancestral history.

All the information you need is within the pages of the Study, including how to become a Bartlett Study Team Member!!

Hope to hear from you and work with you!

Dodie, Bartlett Name Study Coordinator

Hi,

I noticed your new Club 100 badge.

Congratulations ?

Keep up the nice work,

Guy

Hi Jeanette, I am also related to the Gilberts through Thomas and then Jonathon. After reading your information, I'm still unclear which Thomas was married to Lydia, father or son? It seems like it's the son. Can you please confirm?

Thanks,

Mary

Thanks Jeanette for the merges on Hill and Johnson. Since I'm new to WikiTree, all the assistance I am receiving after importing my GEDCOM is awesome!

Hi Jeanette, Thanks for all the merges you did, however, just a reminder that we are trying to let the profile managers that are active, go ahead and do their merges. And, if you do a merge, please remember that part of your responsibility is to clean up the profile after the merge to remove duplicate information and sources. Keep up the great work you do!!!

Good call. That's what I was seeing . . . without the algorithms. It's kind of cool seeing someone come at it this way. I spent two years majoring in engineering before I dropped that part of my double major (it was the departmental tests where I could do every problem set, but got stuck on the new wrinkles that give them their bell curve!). I still like reading popular science books, especially ones that are written well.

Good job on the rejection of the Etienne matches. I know there is a father and a son, both by that name. I think some people have become a little "merge happy" anyway.

Do you have a connection with the Fontaines, or did you just pick up on this?

Thank you so much for your additions to the Felch family. I would love to know what source you are using, then I will make the necessary changes. (It appears you are as much a stickler for detail as I am!)
