North Carolina Flag
Annah (Gardner) Sparkman was born in North Carolina.
U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Annah (Gardner) Sparkman was a North Carolina colonist.

Her father, Martin Gardner, names her mother as Annah and her as Annah Gardner in 1760.[1] Based upon her presumptive birth year, Bertie County was not formed until 1722, so she would have legally been born in Chowan Precinct, Albemarle County, North Carolina.

Her marriage is well documented, by inference in her sister's will. Anna (Gardner) Sparkman is mentioned in the will of her sister, Ann Elizabeth (Gardner) Standley (1725-1775).[2]

Slaves

Named as a bequeathal to Anna in her father's will:

  1. Is (described as a boy)
