This in reference to a visit to someone requesting to marry. The description, however, mistakenly describes this as a "removal".

There is a land grant record for a William Gardner dated 7 June 1799, for 230 acres on the banks of Deep River. [9]
According to my calculations, this should be in the area of Penny Road in modern day Jamestown, North Carolina. This quite possibly is the area where the Gardners and Lambs later had their gun making workshops.
Note: Although a date of death has been noted, there is as yet no known location for William's burial. It would most likely have been at Deep River, but there is no record to be found. Possibly his grave was unmarked.
