Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Much appeciated! I understand and am a member of the Mayflower project. I will ensure through collaboration that information I enter is compliant with Wikitree and genealogy standards.

PS Tags (names in green boxes) are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag and links to resources. They also control the activity which is included in the weekly emails from WikiTree. To get the best results, add separate tags for each surname and spelling variation of interest on your Followed Tags page. You can have up to 20 total and can delete some if you are receiving irrelevant information.
Thank you for signing the Honor Code and for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To get the best results, begin adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to ancestors already in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Also, you are going to run into a bit of a problem with uploading your gedcom because I see you aren't yet a volunteer member and you need to do that in order to add your family to WikiTree. To volunteer, go to your "My WikiTree" tab at the top of your screen. Then click on NAV Home Page. It will give you instructions on completing tags. Enter any surnames, locations or events you are interested in. Then be sure to click the Volunteer button at the bottom. A greeter will then confirm your membership and you can take the next step of adding your family.

Hi, having trouble understanding how this works. I uploaded a Gedcom file and it looks like I have an immense amount of comparison work to do. From what I understand, I have to ensure my data is not duplicated and it is properly sourced but the instructions are vague, and every page refers me to another page with another step to take. Before I can compare I have to read the core principles, then go to a page and put in tags and comments (properly formatted), then who knows what. Is there not one page with instructions from start to finish that doesn't send me to 5 others to complete sub steps? I want to collaborate and do things properly but this is very challenging to figure out with all the jumping around. I hadn't planned on making this an huge extensive project because I'm doing my MS applications and that takes a lot of time. Was going to come here and meet others doing the same. Perhaps I am mistaken. New at this. Cheers.
