Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your contributions to our tree.

I see that you have been adding pre-1700 profiles tonight using "Baptismal records" and phrases like that as your source. This is not considered an adequate source for pre-1700 profiles. Would you please review the Pre-1700 Quiz and the explanations about the sort of sources WikiTree is looking for, as well as our Help page on Sources.

Thank you!

The George Elgin merge looks good, Patrick. Thanks for doing it.

Hi David, Thank you for your note. The information I have been putting on Wikitree, i acquired decades ago, either from the LDS library or Family Tree Maker records. They included Maryland Marriage records, Wills and Land Records. I wrote the information in a note book, also noting it was from a will, land record etc, but wasn't able to copy the given will or other record. Most of the info regarding Francis Adams came from a book in the Multnomah County, Oregon Library also from decades ago listing English Landed Gentry in the American Colonies by one of the early 19th century Burkes. I am unable to find my original notes with Burke's full name. I am trying to add as many of the children of my direct ancestors that there seems to be agreement as to who they are. I at the same time am trying to avoid those possible children where there may be disagreement as to their actual existence. This is a very time consuming task and in order to save time I am generalizing the source. Will be more careful in the future.

Thank you Patrick.

The more specific the source, the better.

Hi!

I see that you just did some work on pre-1700 profiles and that you have had your pre-1700 badge for quite some time.

The requirements for sources, especially for early profiles have been altered since you got your badge. There is now a quiz to take before having the badge; https://www.wikitree.com/quiz/pre_1700 which you can check out. You can also read the help for pre-1700 profiles; https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles in order to understand why a source like "Ancestry.com" is not a valid source.

Hi Patrick,

You previously expressed an interest in joining the Spain Project. Would you still like to do so? If so, we'd love to have you. Have a look at the project page and see which team you might like to join and I can get you the badge and into the Google group.

Thanks,

Susie :-)

Could you tell me where you found your information on John Knox that came to America?
posted by Sydna Taylor
Sorry, just found your request. The Information comes from a book, "KNOX, James Knox, Sr and Elizabeth Craig Knox and their Descendants" compiled by Lorene K Petersen and Jennie Belle Lyle. I found the book in the main LDS Library in Salt Lake City. It very lengthy and very detailed.
