Charles Fuller was an African-American playwright best known for his play A Soldier's Play which he also wrote the screenplay for and was turned into the Hollywood film A Soldier's Story (1984).
After the success of A Soldier’s Play, he received honorary doctorate degrees from La Salle, Villanova, and Chestnut Hill College.[1]
