Marriage - On 25 Dec 1856, in Adams County, Illinois, Levi Frey and Elvina Williams.
Census - 5 Jun 1860, Liberty Township, Adams County, Illinois. They were living with his father and Levi was working the farm with him.
Military Service - He enlisted during the Civil War in Company E, 78th Illinois Infantry Regiment. This regiment was organized at Quincy, Illinois (county seat of Adams County) and mustered in 1 September 1862. It left the state for Louisville, Kentucky 19 September. On 5 October it moved to Shephardstown, Kentucky to guard the Louisville & National Railroad from Elizabethtown to New Haven and was headquartered at New Haven till 30 January 1863. The regiment next moved to Nashville, Tennessee until 7 February, participating in repulsing the attack on Fort Donelson. From there the regiment moved to Franklin on 12 February and was stationed there the next few months. Levi died during this period.[2]
