Biography

Paulo Reglus Neves Freire was born 19 September 1921 in Recife, Brazil^[1] to parents Joaquim Freire and Edeltrudes Neves.^[2][3]

On 20 April 1944 he married Elza Maria Costa Oliveira. Elza passed away in 1986.

Their children include:

• Maria Cristina Costa Freire^[4]
• Maria Freire

In 1988 Paulo married Ana Maria Araújo.

He was an educator and philosopher. In 1996 he was given an Honorary Doctorate, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.^[1]

He passed away 2 May 1997 from heart failure in São Paulo, Brazil.^[1]
