  4. Aviation pioneer began in north Queensland Mr. Harold Livingstone Fraser, who was fatally burned when his homestead near Kingaroy was destroyed by fire last week, was a pioneer of aviation in Queensland. He was mainly responsible for the development of the present aerodrome at Rockhampton. Mr. Fraser leased the drome site when he founded Rockhampton Aerial Services and operated flights to Clermont, Emerald, and Springsure in single-engine machines. With the managing director of Queensland Airlines (Captain Ron Adair) he shares the distinction of landing his plane safely after the engine had fallen out. During the first World War, as a member of the 5th Light Horse Regiment, he was the last Australian to be evacuated from Gallipoli after he and a party of five other Diggers had carried out de-molition work. He later transferred to the Australian Flying Corps and flew with Captain Adair in No. 1 Squadron in Egypt. After the war he settled on a sheep property near Richmond. north-west Queens land. and subsequently returned to the aviation field. He retired from active flying before the last war and took up grazing at Dingo about 50 miles west of Rockhampton. When his property was burnt out he settled on Greystonlea cattle station near Kingaroy. Aviation pioneer began in north Queensland (1950, November 8).
