Carlo was born in 1892. He passed away in 1986.
Carlo wrote books on historical and literary subjects (for example, a biography of Oscar Wilde and an essay on the exile of the poet Ugo Foscolo).
Carlo became famous in England for his numerous novels, mainly set in Ancient Rome, which dealt with the lives of important historical figures in the form of biographies. Some of the protagonists of his novels are, among others, Pontius Pilate, the last Etruscan king Tarquinius Superbus, Nero and Beau Brummell.
