OBIT Columbus Marshall Francis was born December 13, 1861 at Marble Hill, Bollinger County, MO. At the age of 18 years, he moved with his parents, the late O.J. Francis, to Howell County, where he since has resided. At the age of 23, he was married to Miss Julia Acres (s/b Eaker) and to this union three children, one son and two daughters were born. The mother and son having passed on before. On December 8, 1891 he was married to Mrs. Evaline King Highfill, who survives him. To this union eight children were born, five sons and three daughters; two of the sons died in infancy. At the age of 28 years, he was converted and joined the Congregational Methodist Church, having lived and died in that faith. He departed this life December 26, 1928, at the age of 67 years and 13 days. Death being due to paralysis. He leaves to survive him, his widow and eight children, two stepsons, twenty-one grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three brothers and one sister. The children are Mrs. Stonewall Willard of Walnut Ridge, AR; Mrs. Frank Edson, Mrs. Silas House, and Franklin Francis of Kokomo, IN; Mrs. Ezra Redburn of Rover, MO; Mrs. Paul Watson, Independence, KS; Harman and Troy Francis of the family home. The sister and brothers are Eliza Francis, Peter and Charley Francis of Cull, MO; and Jordan (s/b Jerdan) of West Plains, MO. He was of a cheerful disposition and leaves a host of friends to mourn his death. Burial was in the Francis Cemetery, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Joseph Willard conducted the services.
