Edwin Carewe was an American Silent Film director, stage actor, producer, and screenwriter.

Birth name: Jay John Fox. Son of Franklin Marion Fox & Sallie Priddy. Jay and his siblings were 1/16th Chickasaw. Their mother was 1/8th.

First wife: Mary Jane Croft. Children: Violette, Mary Jane.

Second (and third) wife: Mary Akin. During their first marriage, they had children Sally Ann and William. They divorced, then remarried and had daughter Carol Lee.
