His wife was his first cousin. He was farming near Quairading on a property called Cubbine which was owned by him and two brothers. He fell from a windmill while he was inspecting it. He had failed to take the windmill out of gear and a change in wind direction caused the vane to move and knock him off the mill.
There was no mention of children in the death notice. He is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery.
