Louis (or Lewis) Ford was born in about 1845 in West Bromwich. There is an 1846 West Bromwich birth record [1].
Louis became a very successful secretary and manager of West Bromwich Albion FC from the late 1880's. He was also vice president of the 'Football' League from 1894 to 1897. His club and their close friends Aston Villa exempted themselves from having to seek re-election to this league. Louis Ford became secretary of Walsall FC in the late nineteenth century. He then became a football referee and then secretary of Leicester Fosse FC.

It is possible that the parents of Louis were Edward and Martha Ford, as there is a christening record of Lewis Ford with them in 1846 in Wednesbury [3].
