Biography

John was born about 1530 son to Alexander Forbes of Brux.

Note: It was stated on the profile John married Elizabeth Gordon and had issue:

• John b. abt. 1578
• Janet mar. William Strachan of Glenkindie

However this John of Brux did not marry a Gordon

John Forbes son and heir apparent of Alexander Forbes of Brux was granted the lands and barony of Brux in 1546 when his father resigned these retaining liferent. ^[1]

At Dalkeith on 5 Aug 1576 King James granted a charter to John Forbes of Brux and his spouse Elizabeth Gordon of the lands of Drumallachies in the barony of Brux.^[2]

John appears to have died about 1580 when his children were very young. His son John obtained sasine of the barony of Brux in 1599 paying relief on these lands from the king's hands for 19 years.^[3]
