Biography

Joseph Charles FLUERTY was born about 1821 in Van Diemen's Land, New South Wales, Australia. His parents were Charles FLUERTY (or FLUTY) and Mary GRIGGS.

Mary Ann NASH and Joseph Charles FLUERTY were married on 24 November 1855 at Brisbane Street, Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land[1]. On his marriage certificate, Joseph listed his occupation as Master mariner.

1862, Schooner, Macquarle - Master[5]

The brigantine, Creole set sail from Launceston, Van Diemen's Land for Dunedin on the 25 August 1863 and was wrecked in Banks Straits on or around 29 August 1863. Passengers and crew including Captain Joseph FLUERTY were all believed to have perished[6].
