Ralph Flippen, born in about 1714 in Abingdon, Gloucester, Virginia, died 28 May 1770 in Cumberland County, Virginia, married Martha Frances "Patsy" Scott in 1738 in Abingdon, Gloucester, Virginia, born 28 April 1716 in New Kent County, Virginia, died 25 August 1794 in Cumberland County, Virginia. Ralph’s Will was dated 24 February 1767 and probated in Cumberland County, Virginia in 28 May 1770. Martha Frances "Patsy" Scott’ Will was dated 7 August 1793 and probated 25 August 1794 in Cumberland County, Virginia.
In 1704 Thomas was paying a quit claim rent in Kingston Parish for 300 acres - he was listed as Thomas Fliping. The quit rent was required of all Virginia landowners, who had to pay the King for the land. The price was one shilling for each 50 acres.
