Biography

Thomas Flippin was born in about 1675 in Ulster, Ireland, the son of William Flippin. He married Elizabeth (unknown last name) in about 1699 in Gloucester, Virginia.

Children of Thomas and Elizabeth were: *Elizabeth Flippin - born in about 1700 in Gloucester County, Virginia, died after 1762 in Cumberland​ County, Virginia; married Stephen Bedford, Sr. in about 1720 in Cumberland County, Virginia. Stephen​ was born in 1698​ in Gloucester County, Virginia, died on 8 August 1758 in Cumberland County, Virginia.

• Anne Flippen - born in about 1703 in Gloucester County, Virginia, died in Virginia, married Edmund Lille (of Gloucester County, Virginia).
• Robert Flippen - born in about 1705 in Gloucester County, Virginia, died after 18 Jun 1789, married Mary Unknown.
• Sarah Flippen - born in about 1708 in Gloucester County, Virginia, married Unknown Gunter.

• Ralph Flippen, born in about 1714 in Abingdon, Gloucester, Virginia, died 28 May 1770 in​ Cumberland County, Virginia, married Martha Frances "Patsy" Scott in 1738 in Abingdon, Gloucester​, Virginia, born 28 April 1716 in New Kent County, Virginia, died 25 August 1794 in Cumberland​ County, Virginia. Ralph’s Will was dated 24 February 1767 and probated in Cumberland County, Virginia in 28 May 1770. Martha Frances "Patsy" Scott’ Will was dated 7 August 1793 and probated 25 August 1794 in Cumberland County, Virginia.

In 1704​ ​Thomas was paying a quit claim rent in Kingston Parish for 300 acres​ - he was listed as Thomas Fliping. The quit​ rent was required of all Virginia landowners, who had to pay the King​ ​for the land.​ ​ The​ price was one shilling for each 50 acres.

Thomas died on 24 November 1755 in Virginia.
