Thomas Fleming was born about 1572, son of Thomas Fleming [1] and his wife, Mary James. [2] He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Lincoln's Inn.[1]
He was first returned to Parliament in 1601 as member for Winchester [3] then in 1604 he was returned for Southampton to replace his father who had been appointed to office. He retained the seat in 1614 and 1620. [4]
He was knighted at Whitehall by King James on the 27th of February 1605. [5] It was around this time that he married Dorothy Cromwell, daughter of Sir Henry Cromwell alias Williams [1] [2] and his wife, Joan Warren. They were parents of three sons, Thomas who died young, another Thomas born about 1609 and Henry and four daughters, Dorothy and another Dorothy who both died young, Mary and Frances. [2]
Thomas died on the 19th of February 1624 and was buried at South Stoneham. [1]
