An Extent was taken of the lands, of Stowe manor in co Norfolk, held in dower of the gift of John de Bydun, by Maud de Rocheford, sometime the said John's wife, in response to a writ dated 11 November 39 Henry III (1255), which found John died without heirs of his body and the whole barony ought to descend to his five sisters.[1]

(“uxor que fuit Johannis de Bidune junioris, Matillis…x annorum…filia Thome filii Bernardi”.... and "Ewgenia Picot…filia Radulfi Picot de Kancia....")[2]
Another section of the Rotuli de Dominabus of 1185 records "Stowe was an endowment of Matilda de Bidun...dau. of Thomas fitz Bernard" (“Stowe que est dos Matillidis de Bidune...filia Thome filii Bernardi”) and "his wife Eugenia" (“Eugenia uxor Thome filii Bernardi”)...[3]
