Joseph was born in 1840 in Virginia.[1] He is the son of John Fifer and Mary Daniels.
He attended Wesleyan College in Bloomington, Indiana where among his classmates was Charles Jones, later the famous frontiersman "Buffalo" Jones.[2]
He passed away in 1938 in Illinois.[3][4]
