Biography
John Karl Fetterman was born on 15 August 1969 at Reading Hospital in West Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA.
He attended Albright College where he was a collegiate football player and he graduated in 1991 with a bachelor's degree.
In 2001 he moved to Braddock and four years later ran for Mayor where he won the election by a single vote. He served as Mayor of Braddock from 2006 to 2019 and worked to revitalize the former steel town by investing in art and youth programs.
In 2008 he married a Brazilian-American activist and they have 3 children.
In 2018 he spoke publicly about a substantial weight loss of nearly 150 pounds (70 kg) off his 6'9" frame. While presiding over the State Senate in 2019, he appeared to faint.
Since 2019 he has been the 34th Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, USA.
On 13 May 2022 his wife observed that he was experiencing the symptoms of a stroke and he was hospitalized. It had been caused by a clot.
On 17 May 2022 he was fitted with a pacemaker and later that evening, from his hospital room, he learned that he had won Pennsylvania's Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. [1]
