Biography

Antonino Ferrara is a Corleone native resident, the son of Giorgio Ferrara and Maria Streva. I estimate he is born around 1833, twenty years before he marries.

Antonino's brother, Francesco, marries Salvatrice Cinquemani in 1845.

Antonino marries Vincenza, Salvatrice's sister, on 5 June 1853. Their parents are all living at this time.

In her baptismal, marriage, and death records, and in the latter of her children's baptisms, Vincenza is called "Vincenza." In most of her children's baptismal and matrimonial records, she is called "Benedetta."

Vincenza and Antonino have at least eleven children together: three sons named Giorgio (1854, 1855, and 1856), two daughters named Maria (1859 and 1868), Giovanni (1862), Leoluchina (1865), two sons named Francesco Paolo (1871 and 1878), Arcangelo (1872), and Lucia (1875).

The first son named Giorgio, after his paternal grandfather, dies on 12 May 1854 at two weeks of age.

The second son named Giorgio dies on 24 November 1855 at three months of age.

The first daughter named Maria, named after her paternal grandmother, dies on 13 August 1860 at a year and two months of age.

Arcangelo is born 22 May 1872 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Carmelus Marsala and Joanna Fasciana, who are not a married couple.


Lucia, named after her maternal grandmother, is born 25 November 1875 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Petrus Addamo and Rosa di Leonardo, a married couple.

Lucia dies on 3 February 1877 at one year and two months of age.

Francesco Paolo is born and baptized on 5 May 1878. His godparents are Luciano Paternostro and Lucia Salemi, a married couple.

Giovanni marries Salvatrice Randisi on 19 September 1885.

The surviving Giorgio marries Gaetana Piranio on 10 May 1886.

The following month, Leoluchina marries Gaetana's brother, Vincenzo Piranio, on 6 June 1886.

Francesco Paolo dies at nine years and nine months of age (b. 5 May 1878) on 14 February 1888.

The surviving Maria marries Mariano Piranio on 29 April 1889. Mariano is Gaetana and Vincenzo's brother.

Arcangelo marries Serafina Governali on 23 January 1897. Vincenza and Antonino are both still living.

Vincenza dies, reportedly at age 16 (she is 67) on 5 February 1902. Antonino survives her.[1]
