Biography

On 5 February 1893 in Ravanusa, Pietro Farruggio, age 40 (b. 1853), contadino, reports the birth on 3 February in via San Michele to Maria Cirami, his wife, a housewife with whom he lives, a baby girl who is presented and named Luigia.[1] Her Social Security identification file reports her birth on 6 February 1893 in Italy and names her parents Peter Farruggia and Maria Charami.[2]

Luigia and her future husband, Giuseppe Minacore, emigrate from their native Ravanusa to Tunis in 1908 for employment.[3] When Luigia leaves Tunisia, she names her mother, who is still living there, on the ship manifest.

Luigia and Giuseppe are married on 29 February 1909 in Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire in the Medina quarter of Tunis.[4]

Giuseppe and Luigia have nine children: Calogero/Carlos (1910), Peter Joseph (1912), Rosa/Rosie (1914), Maria Cecilia/Mary (1916), Pascal Joseph (1918), Vincent Joseph (1921), Joseph Paul Jr. (1924), Anthony Paul (1926), and Salvatore/Sam P. (c. 1928)
