Isaac Fann, son of Hiram Fann (1800-1874) of Tennessee and Mary "Polly" (Carter) Hays Fann of South Carolina, widow of Reuben Hays (1785-1814), was born about Jan 1827 in Tennessee.[1][2] His parents had married 20 Jan 1823 in Greene, Tennessee.[3]
He married Lucretia Chapman on 26 Jan. 1845 in Hamilton County, Illinois.[4]
He was a laborer when he and Lucretia appeared on the census of 11 Oct. 1850 at District 10, Hamilton, Illinois. They were listed next to his parents.[5] He was a farmer when he and Lucretia appeared on the census of 20 July 1860 at Township 5 Range 5 E, Hamilton, Illinois.[6]

Secondly, he married Eliza (Carey) Cole (1832-1892) of Kentucky, widow of Jasper M Cole (1833-1857) daughter of James Henry Carey and Mary A. (Ligon) Carey,[2]
He was a farmer when he and Eliza appeared on the census of 23 July 1870 at Township 6 Range 6, Hamilton, Illinois.[7] He and Eliza appeared on the census of 25 June 1880 at Mcleansboro, Hamilton County, Illinois.[8] He was a widowed farmer when he appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 at Northern, Franklin County, Illinois.[1]
Isaac died on 2 Dec. 1903 probably in Franklin County, Illinois (last reported location in the 1900 census was Macedonia Village, Northern Township, Franklin County),[1] and was buried at Macedonia Cemetery, also in Franklin County, Macedonia, Franklin County, Illinois. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and a link to that of Eliza,[2] and his stone appears to name 40th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry; Union Army, American Civil War, and is confirmed by a National Park Service Soldier Details entry.[9]
