DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with DG or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • DG Ewing: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 700 markers, haplogroup R-BY203817, FTDNA kit #868493
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
  • DG Ewing: Family Tree DNA mtDNA Test Full Sequence, haplogroup I4a, FTDNA kit #493570
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with DG:

Hi DG

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. You may also want to go through the new member help on How to manage your Watchlist. In particular, you need to work on all of the unsourced profiles on your watchlist, we appreciate all the work you are doing in support of accuracy on WikiTree.

Hello DG,

You show "LNU" as the last name for Anne (LNU) Ewing but I think you meant "Unknown." This typo will keep the profile from being searchable in Wikitree databases.  Could you please take a moment and correct the last name at birth to either Unknown or the correct name if you know it?

If you're not sure how to do this, just reply to this message. IMPORTANT – please include the original profile numbers LNU-1163 in your reply – I write lots of these letters!!  Open your Watchlist box at the top of any profile you manage and type in LNU and fix any others you may manage, please.

Thank you for helping to strengthen our collaborative tree.

Hi DG,

This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the words "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Thanks Debi,

I have downloaded all to my Ewing DB and will test for genealogical facts and determine if they are members of the "unofficial' Ewing index....We (the Ewing Family Association) will be launching our Ewing Brick Wall Project soon and it has three major arms: Big Y (SNP) clade designation, atDNA correlation, and the Most Distant Known Ewing Ancestor Project.

again thanks

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand Pre-1700 Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page. We appreciate all of your expertise!

Please let me know how I can help!

Kind Regards,

Thanks for showing Scotland as one of your interests. If you haven’t yet done so, you are welcome to join the Scotland project via the G-2-G topic. The Project runs the Tartan Trail which encourages those new(er) to Scottish research to get to grips with Scottish sources. There is a wee bit of a wait as each person “hiking the trail” is allocated a mentor to assist and encourage them.

I hope you get a great deal of pleasure collaborating with colleagues in this great project. If you have any questions or wish any advice either send me a private message or email me.

Hey DG

I see that you have uploaded a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM will not automatically populate your tree, it generates a GEDCOMpare report. The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

Thanks Lothar,

How do I add profiles from my gedcom compare , currently I am "fat fingering" and that seems so inefficient?

Thanks Pam,

I have been trying to upgrade but it keeps telling me the Y DNA is for males only: I know that already as 1. I am male 2. I am the admin for the Ewing Y DNA project hosted by the Ewing Family Assoc., at Family Tree DNA.

It appears to me the wiki thinks that I am either female or a no sexed animal. I can not find anywhere on my profile where I specify my sex....is this a PC think

Hi DG,

Sorry to take so long to answer your question, I only happened to come across it accidentally while performing standard greeter duties. Since you posted your question as a comment on your own profile page only you would be notified of the post. In order for me to be notified you would either needed to have posted the message as a "reply" to my comment, or in a comment on my profile page.

Luckily it seems that you have been able to edit the gender on your profile, and it seems that you've been making headway in your DNA, that's great!

It is fascinating that you are the admin for the Ewing Family Assoc. at Family Tree DNA, I wish I could tell you that there is a Ewing One Name Study in our One Name Studies Project, but sadly I could not find one.

I hope that you enjoy WikiTree as much as I do. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask, I'm here to help wherever I can.

Kindest regards, Pam
