Perez (or Peres) Ellis was born about 1766, based on his age at his death on his gravestone.[1] He was the son of Philip Ellis and Mary (Staples) Ellis of Raynham, Massachusetts.[2] His name appears in the records as both "Peres" and "Perez," with about equal frequency.
Perez and Polly Ellis remained at Raynham, Massachusetts, for several years after their marriage. They were there at the time of the 1790 census,[4] At some point, they moved to Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts),[5] and they recorded children there through 1802.[6] By October 1804, they had moved to Hartford, Maine,[7] and were living there at the time of the 1820 census.[8]
Death
Perez Ellis died on 13 May 1838 at Hartford, Maine, and is buried at the Poland Corner Cemetery in Hartford, where his gravestone gives his age at his death as 72.[1]
