Obituary published in The Toccoa (GA) Record, Toccoa GA on September 1, 2004 James Ellard U.S. Army World War II Veteran James Jackson Ellard, 83, of Toccoa, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at the Toccoa Nursing Center. Born Sept. 15, 1920 in Stephens County, he was a son of the late Claude and Maggie Fitzgerald Ellard. He was employed with Trogdon Furniture Company for several years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 29, from the chapel of Whitlock Morturay. Chaplain Janet Gearin and the Rev. Don Scott officiated. Interment followed in Roseland Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Post 4346 Honor Guard. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Carroll of Toccoa; two sons, Edward Ellard and Walter Ellard, both of Toccoa; three brothers, John Ellard of Canton, George Ellard of Toccoa and Claude Ellard Jr. of Rutledge; a sister, Cleo Stowe of Demorest; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ty Ellard, Steven Lomax, Jonathan Hardin, Michael Smith, David Carroll and Chris Taylor. Whitlock Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
